Free weight loss programme for residents – ShapeUp4Life

Do you need help getting healthier?  If the answer is yes, you are in the right place.

If you know someone who is keen to get fit and lose weight, then the new ShapeUp4Life programme might be just what they are looking for.

Commissioned by Hampshire County Council, the programme tackles the way we think about food, rather than diets, and it is FREE to Aldershot and Farnborough residents.

The 12-week programme is designed by psychologists, dieticians, physical activity specialists and experts in behaviour change and also includes exercise. It is aimed at people with a BMI of more than 30 or a BMI of 28 or above if you are from a minority ethnic group or have a long-term physical or mental health condition.

The programme is for those 18 plus, however in some cases 16 and 17 year olds can join.  Clients learn how to create realistic health habits, not how to count calories.  They will learn practical skills to:

  • Get into the right mindset for weight-loss
  • Eat foods that will keep you fuller for longer
  • Eat the right portion sizes
  • Overcome food cravings
  • Balance eating out and socialising
  • Creating new habits
  • Maintain your motivation and feel healthier with more energy

Local sessions run in Rushmoor and you can also take part in sessions online and via an app – you can join anytime.
