Get Involved with Microvolunteering

Would you like to Get Involved but feel you don’t know where to start, whether you have the time or perhaps you are concerned your health isn’t good enough at the moment? Well maybe you could consider #microvoulnteering

It’s a simple idea: that people are more likely to volunteer their time in short and convenient, bite-sized chunks. These easy tasks can be done anytime, anywhere, on your own terms with no commitment. In fact you’re probably already doing it but didn’t realise someone had given it a name!

You can take part from the comfort of your own home, in the office, or even out and about on a walk. There are a huge range of micro-actions you could take which could make a difference to people’s health and wellbeing, support local and national causes and give you a little boost as well.

So what could you do to get involved in this way within the Frimley Health and care system?

Got 5-10 minutes?

  • Follow our social media and share key pieces of health and wellbeing information
  • Take a look at the range of health and wellbeing advice on our website and share something you found useful
  • Complete one of our online surveys
  • Raise awareness of a worthy cause which you support
  • Received a good service from a health or care provider? Send a compliment!
  • Smile at someone and make their day
  • Pick up some litter whilst out and about

Got a little longer?

  • Join a public meeting
  • Make a call, make someone’s day
  • Check in on a neighbour
  • Have a sort out and make a donation
  • Join your local timebank
  • Check out the resources on RedCross and make sure you feel confident in an emergency situation
  • Get involved in a community activity(garden, litter pick, local fayre, parkrun)
  • Inspired? See what opportunities your local volunteer centre has

And if you’ve been inspired share these ideas!
